Petrol station networks with terminals that have a magnetic reader need a stripe that is not easily erased: HiCo, at 2750 Oe, withstands proximity to phones and magnets much better than a LoCo stripe. The customer number is encoded on the stripe, on one, two or three tracks, and the printed barcode allows reading with a scanner as well. The card can support a points programme or a per-litre discount.
